David Kovacs specializes in investment banking, private equity, and venture capital with extensive experience in both mature and emerging markets. He focuses on a variety of industries and has analyzed hundreds of deals, executing both sell-side and buy-side engagements.
Mr. Kovacs was Head of Investment Banking, Private Equity, and Research for Americas, for Fitch Learning (Fitch Ratings).
In addition, Mr. Kovacs consulted as the Head of Private Equity and Investments for Strategic Acquisitions, a leading real estate and special situations private equity firm, focusing on single-family bulk residential acquisitions and special situation financing. The firm deployed $2.5 billion in aggregate and has been the cornerstone investor for and largest affiliate of Colony Capital.
Prior to Fitch and Strategic Acquisitions, Mr. Kovacs was a Managing Director at The Hinduja Group, one of the largest diversified groups in the world with over $50 billion under management, where he spearheaded the group’s private equity investments and strategic relationships.
Prior to Hinduja Group he has held various Investment Banking and Private Equity roles at Blackstone Group and Citigroup.
Mr. Kovacs has and continues to lecture at many of the leading investment banks, private equity firms, sovereign wealth funds, and government agencies, including: the Securities & Exchange Commission, New York City Controller Office, Abu Dhabi Investment Authority, JP Morgan, Barclays, Citigroup, RBC, RBS, Lazard, Morgan Stanley, and Deutsche Bank.
In 2012, Mr. Kovacs was appointed as the leading learning adviser for the Securities & Exchange Commission, assessing and implementing solutions for examiners, accountants, and attorneys working for the agency. This was an unprecedented appointment for a private sector individual.
He earned a bachelor’s degree with a double major in economics, and finance, and a minor in accounting and political science. Mr. Kovacs completed all University course requirements in two years at the age of 18, receiving his high school degree and four-year college degree at the same time. He graduated from the City University of New York. He has also attended Columbia College.
